Welcome To Neff
Video Productions Web Site
Steve Neff turned his hobby into a business back in 1984. After being
employed by United Parcel Service for almost ten years, he decided to take the “leap” into a business of his own. Steve’s ability to capture railroad action on video soon
became apparent to other producers. Green Frog Productions, Berkshire Productions, Sunday River Productions, Railroad Video
Productions, and TM Books & Video have asked Steve to supply footage for some of their
video programs.
In addition to supplying stock footage to others; Steve managed to produce close
to 70+ programs of his own. All of these programs are available on DVD. Steve has used other videographers in some of his programs. They are Jim Cassatt Jr., formerly from Harrisburg
PA area. Terry Lewis, from Indianapolis, and Gary Melford, from Detroit. Steve has used these men because
their styles are very similar to his own. Our philosophy is to try and capture trains showing the environment that they traverse.
In other words we try to incorporate structures such as towers, signals bridges, depots, grain elevators, tunnels, bridges,
and other landmarks that would be easily recognizable. We shy away from road crossings as much as possible The late David J. Williams III, from Richmond KY,
and Fr. Dale Peterka, from Cincinnati have also supplied us with their 16mm and Super 8mm film respectively. Mark Hardin of
the Cleveland OH area has captured three outstanding cab ride videos for us.
We do not show the entire
train but try and incorporate enough scenes of the trains to give the viewer an idea of what is found in the consist. Some
of our videos are narrated and have maps. Other videos in our lineup are not narrated but do include on-screen graphics to
depict the locations where the scenes were shot. These features are noted in our on-line listing of titles.
